What is CPL?
CPL stands for cost per lead and connects your ad spend to the contacts you generate under a defined set of criteria. It must specify what counts as a valid lead; it is not automatically the same as the cost of acquiring a customer.
Advertisers pay based on the number of leads generated by the marketing campaign. Cost per lead (CPL) is commonly used in affiliate programs, especially when the referring site is not an e-commerce site.
In most cases, the CPL model is based on users signing up on websites or apps after the promotion. Of all the metrics to manage in digital marketing, CPL is one of the most important. These acronyms refer to cost per lead, although the concept is sometimes called PPL (Pay Per Lead).
Whether you call it by its Spanish or English name, what matters is how useful it is: measuring the profitability of the actions that attract potential customers. Or something similar: knowing how much money we invest for each lead we generate. This is of great interest to computer scientists.
